The owner of this penthouse at 160 Imlay Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn, had planned on a large-scale renovation of this epic space. When other projects drew his time and attention, we suggested a simple alternative through expert loft staging: what if you just embraced industrial loft living?
Inspired by generations of New York City artists, along with the work of Joshua Charow to document this vanishing breed, we decided to show the home as a space where a creative soul can find peace and inspiration. With panoramic views from both sides of this 3400sf space, we envisioned separate areas where one can sit, stand, work or rest while soaking in the scenery. The industrial port gives way to vistas of lower Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, and the vibrant NYC waterway. Facing East, the iconic "R" rises on its scaffold alongside the spire of Visitation church. Who needs walls when there is all this rough beauty?
